A year ago, Bart de Groot from Urban Sync B.V. came to us at studioplay® with an exciting question: whether we would be enthusiastic about a nightclub in Amsterdam Zuidoost. As a creative studio located just a stone's throw away, and as active advocates of everything that strengthens Zuidoost, we were immediately enthusiastic and happy to accept the challenge.

Together with LITT Events and Urban Sync, we worked hard to win the Club Echo tender. The idea was to open the nightclub during ADE and offer the residents of Zuidoost a night culture they deserve. It was an ambitious plan that perfectly suited the vision of a vibrant and diverse Southeast.

Unfortunately, we are disappointed to announce that Club Echo will not be there. The costs of making the parking tunnel at the Johan Cruijff Arena fireproof are simply too high. As Het Parool reported on July 5, 2024: “Surely there will be no nightclub in the concrete parking tunnel near the Johan Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam-Zuidoost. The costs of making the location fireproof are too high. “We worked hard. This is really sour. '”‍

Although this is not the result we had hoped for, at studioplay® we remain committed to the future of Zuidoost. We are convinced that there are still plenty of opportunities to make this neighborhood flourish. With the same passion and dedication, we will continue to work on projects that contribute to a vibrant, cultural future for our community.
